Earlier this month we wrote about the DPA Microphones we’d been lent to try out. We’ve now tested the DPA microphones thoroughly, specifically the 4466 and 4488 models, and we’d like to share what we found.
We used these high-end microphones at several events in Amsterdam and Rotterdam, including the History Matters Event at Hogeschool Rotterdam.
The DPA 4488: our favourite
After a thorough evaluation, we clearly prefer the 4488. This directional microphone has a number of convincing advantages:

What’s the difference between the DPA 4466 and the 4488?
The 4488 is a directional headset microphone, and the 4466 is omnidirectional. In our tests at events in Amsterdam and Rotterdam we preferred the 4488.
Why did you prefer the DPA 4488?
Speech came across very clearly, it needed hardly any EQ and we had no feedback problems, even next to stage monitors and in difficult rooms. The headband is also easy to adjust for different speakers.
