⏳ Five weeks ago already!

Rotterdam Summer Carnival (Zomercarnaval) 2025 feels like yesterday, but time flies! For over 25 years (let’s just call it 30), Bjorn Ecury, the founder of Massive Pro AV, has been part of this amazing event: first as a DJ, and later with Massive Pro AV (formerly Massive Productions Holland), growing into the go-to sound partner for several groups.

This year we handled the AV for 5 floats/trailers for 5 different groups, the Rueda de Casino at Rotterdam Centraal station and the tech on the Soca boat.

🌟 And what a journey it’s been!
From diesel generators to green battery packs, from trucks and parade wagons to floats, from cargo bikes to complete sound set-ups, along all kinds of routes through our city… We’ve seen it all. Yes, including the restrictions we keep running into more and more as event organisers, sadly. But you know what?

🤝 One thing just keeps getting better.
The togetherness. The explosion of cultures from more and more countries taking part. The good vibes that make you forget the stress of everyday life. That Caribbean feeling running through your veins that lets you dream of sunnier places for a while.

Rotterdam Summer Carnival is the biggest Caribbean street festival in the Netherlands and a fine example of multicultural togetherness. What started in 1984 as a small Antillean initiative with 15,000 visitors now draws up to 1 million people every year. UNESCO recognises it as intangible heritage, and 2,500+ performers from more than 25 countries, in 32 colourful groups and 30 floats, make up a 5 km parade. With an economic value of over €14 million, Summer Carnival adds to Rotterdam’s pride and puts the city on the map worldwide as a welcoming place.
