Hotel AV installation: lobby to ballroom on one system

A hotel is really 10 or so buildings under one roof. The lobby needs something different from the bar, the meeting room something different from the ballroom, and the corridor to the lifts something different again from the restaurant. Yet all those spaces often get their technology separately, from different suppliers, at different times.

You probably know the result. The music in the lobby doesn’t carry through to the bar. Announcements never come through cleanly anywhere. A guest who books a meeting room gets a screen that refuses to connect. And your staff have to press a different button on every system.

There’s a better way: treat the whole hotel as one project.

From lobby to ballroom, one system

We bring all the AV in a hotel together on one foundation. Background music, paging, screens and meeting room technology run over the same network and are managed centrally.

It starts with atmosphere. With music zones, the lobby, restaurant, bar and corridors each get their own music and volume, matched to the time of day. Calm at breakfast, a bit livelier in the evening, all controlled from one system.

Paging sits on the same base. A call for a guest or an announcement during an event comes through equally clearly everywhere, in the right zones. It runs over the system that’s already there. If the PA also has to carry evacuation messages, the system needs to be certified for that (EN 54-16, the European standard for voice alarm equipment) and designed to NEN 2575, the Dutch standard for evacuation alarm systems. We coordinate that with your fire alarm installer. And the distorted speaker at reception that crackles through every announcement is gone.

Screens that show guests the way

Digital signage and wayfinding do more in a hotel than look good. A screen at reception showing today’s rooms, a sign by the lift pointing to the right floor, a display in the meeting foyer with the programme. It saves your guests searching and your reception answering the same questions.

Because the screens sit on the same network, you manage them centrally. You type a change to the room schedule once, and it appears on every screen that needs to show it. You stop printing paper signs, and the screen showing the wrong day is a thing of the past.

For a hotel with lots of business guests or events, that’s the difference between a smooth arrival and a guest wandering the corridors.

Meeting rooms and a ballroom that work straight away

Meeting and presentation technology is where things go wrong most often in hotels. A guest books a room, plans a presentation, and loses the first 15 minutes to cables that don’t fit and a screen that stays black.

We set up the meeting rooms so they just work. A guest plugs in, the picture’s there, the sound is right. In the ballroom you scale that up to a set-up for a conference, a dinner or a party, with sound, video and lighting tuned to each other.

For you, that means less running around for your staff, fewer complaints at the front desk, and a room you can hire out with confidence. A meeting room that always works is a room you hire out more often.

Controls your staff understand

All that technology has one thing in common: your staff need to be able to use it, including the person who started 3 weeks ago. A system only the installer understands costs you phone calls every week.

So we keep the controls simple. You run zones, screens and rooms from a touch panel or tablet, with presets for the standard situations. One tap for the morning mood, a fixed setting per meeting room, a button for an announcement. Your staff don’t need to understand anything technical to get it right.

One partner from design to maintenance

The biggest advantage is who looks after it. The equipment is only half the story. We handle the whole process: design, installation, staff training and the maintenance afterwards. One point of contact for all the AV in the hotel.

We match that design to your interior and the architecture. We tuck speakers and screens away so they blend into the space. A hotel sells atmosphere, and visible technology doesn’t belong in that picture.

And if something goes wrong, you call us and we sort it, which beats 3 suppliers pointing at each other. With regular maintenance we keep the system running without you having to think about it.

Plan a walk-round of your hotel

Maybe you run an existing hotel where the tech is creaking, or you’re building something new and want the AV properly planned into the design from the start. Either way, it starts with a walk-round. We go through the building, from lobby to ballroom, and look at what’s needed.

We work throughout the Netherlands, with Rotterdam as our home base. Have us come round for a survey. Call +31 (0)10 307 54 76 or email info@massivepro.nl and we’ll walk through your hotel together.

Frequently asked questions

What AV does a hotel need?

In most hotels it comes down to background music zones, paging and announcements, digital signage and wayfinding, and meeting and presentation technology. We put them on one system so everything works together and can be managed centrally.

Can I control every space from one system?

Yes. Lobby, bar, restaurant, corridors, meeting rooms and ballroom all sit on the same network. You set music and volume per zone, and manage screens and rooms centrally from a touch panel or tablet.

Does the meeting room technology work straight away for guests?

That’s what we set the rooms up for. A guest plugs in and the picture and sound are there, without any fiddling with cables. That saves your staff work and spares your guests a false start to their meeting.

Will the technology fit our interior?

Yes. We match the design to your interior and architecture, and tuck speakers and screens away so they blend into the space. A hotel sells atmosphere, and visible technology doesn’t belong in that picture.

Do you handle maintenance too?

Yes. We cover the whole process, from design and installation to training and maintenance, with one point of contact. We keep the system running afterwards too, so when something fails you don’t have to ring round several suppliers.
