A resort with multiple zones places different demands on a sound system than a single restaurant or a hotel room. The lobby, restaurant, pool, bar and several terraces each need to offer their own listening experience, yet all from one central system that is easy to operate.
For the Corendon Livingstone Jan Thiel Resort on Curaçao, Massive Pro AV designed and installed a complete AUDAC installation that makes exactly that possible.
The brief: five zones, one system
The resort wanted an audio solution covering five different spaces and outdoor areas, each with its own character and sound requirements:
- The lobby: a calm reception area that immediately gives guests a feel for the resort’s atmosphere
- The restaurant: background music that supports dining without disturbing conversation
- The pool area: clear, powerful sound around the water, built to withstand the outdoors
- The bar: fuller sound with bass for a livelier atmosphere, suited to evening programmes
- The terraces: even coverage outdoors too, so the experience carries from inside to out
The system also had to be flexible for live performances and DJ sets, and easy for staff to operate from a tablet.
The installation, zone by zone
Pool
Around the pool we fitted 24 AUDAC WX502mk2/Ob speakers on dedicated outdoor posts. These weatherproof speakers are designed for outdoor use and deliver clear, even coverage across the entire pool area.
Restaurant
The restaurant has four AUDAC WX802MK2/Ob speakers. A full bass response for dinner music comes from an AUDAC Basso12 subwoofer, housed in a custom-made sand-coloured protective cover that blends seamlessly into its surroundings.
Lobby
The reception hall is fitted with four white AUDAC Ateo6m speakers. These wall speakers give a calm, balanced sound that lets guests feel the resort’s atmosphere the moment they arrive.
Bar
The bar has AUDAC Vexo112 full-range loudspeakers, mounted on custom steel frames with sturdy brackets. Two AUDAC Baso18 subwoofers with sand-coloured protective covers provide the extra bass an evening programme or DJ set calls for.
Terraces
Four additional AUDAC Ateo6m speakers have been installed on the outdoor terraces, so the music experience carries from inside to out with no noticeable transition.
Central control via DANTE
All zones are controlled centrally via the AUDAC LUNA-F with DANTE audio processing. DANTE makes it possible to distribute every audio channel over a standard network cable. That means less cabling, simpler management and a system that can be expanded in future without having to rewire everything.
The AUDAC XMP modular set includes:
- NMP40 card for direct Spotify integration
- BMP40 card for Bluetooth streaming
- NWP320 connection point for DJs and live bands
Control is via a tablet using the AUDAC Touch2 app. Staff can change the mood by zone or by time of day, with no technical knowledge needed. All cabling uses professional Procab speaker cable.
The result: a resort that sounds as good as it looks
The Corendon Livingstone Jan Thiel Resort now has an audio system of 38 speakers and 2 subs that moves with the day. Breakfast in the lobby sounds nothing like the bar on a Friday night. The pool has its own sound, undisturbed by whatever is playing indoors. And when a band takes to the stage or a DJ plays, the system keeps up effortlessly.
Staff control everything from a single app on a tablet. There’s no separate technician needed, no manual to keep on top of and no glitches for guests to notice.
