Tomorrow’s the day: King’s Day (Koningsdag) 2025! This year the Netherlands holds its biggest orange party on Saturday 26 April, because the King’s official birthday falls on a Sunday. All of Rotterdam is about parties, music, free markets and good times. From early morning until late at night there’s something going on all over the city: block parties, festivals, live acts and of course the famous vrijmarkt (free street market) in the city centre.
Busy days for Massive Pro AV
For us at Massive Pro AV, King’s Day (and King’s Night, the evening before) is one of the busiest weekends of the year. We supply audiovisual equipment to a range of venues, including NRC, Worm, King Kong Hostel, de Witte Aap, Ter Marsch and Café de Schouw. Every event needs a tailored setup, especially when it comes to lighting, sound and visuals.

At a big city party like King’s Day, safety comes first. That’s why we’re supplying special cable protectors with four channels for one of the events (see the photo with our colleague Jordan), so we can run dozens of metres of cable safely and neatly out of the way. This year we’re doing the sound on the Witte de Withstraat again, probably the most enjoyable street in Rotterdam on King’s Day. Thousands of people come together here for the music, the live acts and the atmosphere that makes this street special every year.
